Legal help for influencers and content creators

LegalLens is a UK legal consultancy that works only with the creator economy. We help influencers check brand contracts before signing, recover money from brands that have not paid, and understand the advertising rules that apply to their content.

We work with creators in the UK, US and EU. No legal jargon. You get clear answers and a view on what to do next.

Can someone check my brand contract before I sign?

Yes. Send us the contract and we will return a marked-up version with a plain-English summary within 24 hours. The fee is flat and capped at 10% of the contract value.

We look for the terms that cost creators money or limit future work:

  • How long the brand can use your content, and whether it can run it as a paid ad

  • Whether you are blocked from working with competitors, and for how long

  • When and how you get paid

  • What happens if the brand cancels or asks for extra edits

  • Who owns the content you create

  • What you are agreeing to take responsibility for

What can I do if a brand has not paid me?

Start with the facts. Check your contract for the payment date, keep the invoice, and save every message about the work and the deadline.

If the brand still does not pay, LegalLens can step in. We recover unpaid creator invoices on a no win no fee basis. We charge 10% of what we recover, so you pay nothing if we do not get you paid.

In a recent case, a food influencer recovered 100% of her fees plus 8% statutory interest after we sent two emails. Many brand payment problems resolve once a business receives a clear, properly written demand.

How do I disclose a paid partnership correctly?

The rule is the same in most places: your audience must be able to tell that a post is an ad, and they must be able to tell straight away.

  • UK: The ASA and CMA expect clear labels such as #ad at the start of the caption or clearly visible on the content. Hidden or vague labels cause problems.

  • US: The FTC expects a clear and obvious disclosure of any material connection to a brand, including free products and affiliate links.

  • EU: Rules vary by country, but the principle is the same. Make the commercial relationship obvious.

If you post to audiences in more than one country, follow the stricter rule. We can review your disclosure approach and give you a short checklist for your content.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to have an influencer contract reviewed? A flat fee capped at 10% of the contract value.

How long does a contract review take? 24 hours from when we receive the document.

What if a brand will not pay me? We recover unpaid invoices on a no win no fee basis and take 10% of the amount recovered.

Do I need an agent or manager to use LegalLens? No. Independent creators use us directly.

Do you help creators outside the UK? Yes. We advise on UK, US and EU rules.

Do I have to say a post is an ad if I was gifted the product? In most cases, yes. A free product given in exchange for a post is a material connection and generally needs to be disclosed. Send us the details and we will tell you what applies.
